Seaside Village with Diverse Coastline
General
El Campello, or just "Campello" is located in the heart of the Costa Blanca between the cities of Alicante and Benidorm, only 20 minutes drive form the Capital. It offers the longest stretch of coastline in the Alicante Province with 23 kilometers of dreamy golden beaches, secluded coves and abrupt cliffs bathed in the Mediterranean Sea. With its crystal-clear waters and excellent year-round weather it makes for an ideal place, not only for water sports enthusiasts, but also for hikers and cyclers in the surrounding mountains. Campello is well catered by the Airport of Alicante and well-served with flights from all over Europe and the rest of the world.
Exploring the Town
Campello is synonymous to history, gastronomy, lazy days and fun by the sea! Its coastline offer exiting cliffs and unique coves such as the Coveta Fuma and Baños de la Reina and kilometer long Blue Flag sandy beaches such as Muchavista or Carrer La Mar located in the fishing harbour and marina. The seaside promenade with shops and restaurants stretching alongside the urban beach offer a wide variety of leisure and nautical activities. But it is not all about beaches. Here you will find one of the most important archaeological sites in the Mediterranean, at the foot of the Vigía Tower of La Illeta. In addition you'll find many other attractions like multiple parks as the Arabic Garden with its beautiful paths. The weekly market offers excellent local produce of fresh fruit and vegetables. And if you are an early bird, you can even stop by the Lonja (fish auction) in the harbour to get some fresh catch of the day. To savour the Campellan gastronomy like the locals, try the Caldero Campellero (fish and rice stew), la bogueta amb tomaca (sardines in tomato) or El Bollitori (cod, potato and vegetable dish). Best washed down with a very cold beer!
Enchanting Surroundings
Campello is a peaceful town where you won’t lack anything. But thanks to the short distance to the cities nearby such as Alicante and Benidorm you can always add more entertainment to your agenda. It has excellent road and rail connections, the tram allows you to be in downtown Alicante in just 20 minutes. From here you can visit the amazing Arab castle Santa Barbara and the traditional market, Mercado Central where the locals buy their daily products. The square behind it is full of flower stands and delicious tapas bars for a break in between. From Alicante you can continue your tour taking that same tram back up north to visit Benidorm, where to stop by one of its many amusement parks like Terra Mitica or Mundomar for some family fun. Continue further north and get off the tram for a romantic promenade down the pictureqsue streets of Altea. The journey does not need to stop here! Continue exploring the beautiful coastline further up north passing Calpe all the way to Denia. In Denia you can put the dot on the I and enjoy a nice traditional dinner in the harbour whilst enjoying the Valencian charm, gazing at its beautiful castle as the sun sets to call it a day!
