General

Guardamar del Segura is located 25 km south of Alicante International Airport and only 15 km to the north of Torrevieja. A traditional old Spanish fishing village, much admired for the preservation of its beautiful surroundings and landscape with an ecosystem that has attracted many species of wildlife. With an all-year mild temperature and very little rainfall, its 14 km long white golden sandy beaches contrast in colorful display, enclosed by green pine, eucalyptus, cypress and palm tree forests planted on its many dunes. It has an extensive farmland orchard area through which the important River Segura runs, before reaching the river mouth joining the sea. Due to its privileged location, temperature and surroundings it has become more popular for both holiday sunseekers as well as second home buyers.

Exploring the Town

This enchanting little town with an endless coastline is not only about its virgin sandy beaches. It is proud of its culture, traditions and festivals. The popular market held on Wednesdays sells fresh fruit, vegetables and much more. The nature reserve El Parque Natural de La Mata is ideal for walking and biking for the whole family. There are several golf courses in the area and the charming marina offers not only a Lonja (fish market) but also some nice bars where to enjoy a cold beer whilst taking in the amazing views. For all adventure enthusiasts, kiting, windsurf and other watersports will put your skills on trial. And whatever you do, do not miss out on the most outstanding cuisine week in June of La Fiesta Gastronomica de la Ñora & Langosta. This festival pays tribute to the local produce of the Sweet Dried Red Pepper and their famous Guardamar King Prawn.

Enchanting Surroundings

Less than 40 km from the cosmopolitan Alicante, ancient Murcia or enchanting Elche, offer no shortage of where to enjoy great food, fascinating history and architecture. Elche is not only famous for its palm groves but is also home to half of Spain’s shoe factories. So get yourself a quality pair before hitting the famous beach in Los Arenales del Sol. In Murcia people don’t like to rush. They rather take the time to savor life in pretty cafés, gardens or squares like Plaza de las Flores enjoying a coffee while admiring the Art nouveau or baroque architecture. Alicante is Costa Blanca's hotspot and dazzling city, offering a great variety of cultural activities, excellent shopping and a vibrant nightlife to satisfy the most demanding visitor.
