All wine lovers are well acquainted with the quality of Spanish renowned wines such as Rioja and Ribera del Duero. But as a matter of fact, the Costa Blanca and especially the region of Alicante, has a long wine history and is considered one of Spain’s best wine producers.

Alicante wine comes mainly from the northern coastal areas between the towns of Denía and Calpe known as La Marina privileged with an ideal Mediterranean climate for growing the Muscatel grape. While the inland continental and dry climate of the area known as Alto Vinalopó is ideal for the Monastrell red wine. Well known grapes of this region are Cabernet Sauvignon, Garnacha Tintorera, Merlot, Pinot Noir and Tempranillo, while whites include Airén, Macabeo, Merseguera, Romano, Planta Fina and Verdil.
